My Story
Hi, I'm Donna McRae-the founder of Laughing Lotus Boutique. Laughing Lotus Boutique began in 2018, but my connection to jewelry started long before that. I studied metalsmithing in high school and took a few courses in college. An internship brought me to NYC In the early 1980's and I worked for several major fashion houses before stepping back when my daughter Lily, was born.
After leaving my corporate career, and becoming a mom, I found yoga, meditation, and eventually Reiki — practices that shifted how I created. I became a certified yoga teacher, a dedicated meditator and later a Reiki master. While running the retail shop inside my beloved yoga studio in Wellesley, I fell in love with crystals and began making jewelry again for our community. That was the beginning of designing with intention and using meaningful symbols and the energy of crystals.
Today, Laughing Lotus carries that spirit forward but in a more modern, on-trend and universal way. Most pieces are handmade, one at a time, Reiki-infused, and created to feel thoughtful and meaningful. I think of it as consciously designed. it's jewelry that connects, supports, and tells your story, but never preaches or overpowers. I hope my jewelry offers a little brightness to your day.
